HUB tradeshow readies up for their August launch

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 30 July, 2010 : - - HUB 2010, the UK’s only event for the whole of the boardsports business, is due to take place from 10th-11th August at Bristol Amphitheatre and Waterfront Square. The new tradeshow is designed to create a fresh offer for the boardsports business, and a new focus for the industry.

Strictly trade only, the show will bring together the best brands and buyers from across the UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands for two full days of business, buying, networking and inspiration. Leading suppliers exhibiting at the show range from big name brands, eco-friendly manufacturers, niche lines and brand new independents.

The event will showcase the latest boardsports hardware ranging from innovative constructions for softboards from Soft Surfboards, the new 2011 collection of Kite and Wind accessories from  Mystic to an exclusive preview of the ‘DEVIANT FIN’ from Firewire Surfboards which noticeably increases speed and responsiveness by reducing rear fin drag.

Many apparel exhibitors are using the event as a launch-pad for their latest spring/summer 2011 ranges and collections include etnies 25th Anniversary and Eco-Friendly collections, DuFFs new styles for Summer 2011 featuring 2 lo’s and a mid-top ‘The Dresden’, ‘Tierra’ and ‘The Meen’, and Troy Lee’s new 2011 sportswear collection of men’s and women’s tees, fleeces, jackets, denim, caps and accessories all with Troy Lee exclusive handwriting.

New eco-friendly designs on display at the show include the UK’s first recycled eco-wetsuit ‘Recore’ from GUL and 100% ECO friendly T-shirts from Dirtball - made out of 65% recycled cotton fibre and 35% recycled plastic water bottles.

There will also be the opportunity to see the latest hardware in action at the show. The brand demonstration areas offer an interactive introduction to some of the latest products on offer and live daily demonstrations include King Ramps’ Mini Ramp with brand and store-sponsored riders on Tuesday and best street trick on the famous steps on the Wednesday, compered by FiftyFifty.

The new event takes place at the Bristol amphitheatre and waterfront square, right in the city centre (and an established local skate spot), with a series of marquees offering a focus on each sector of the business.  The waterfront is at the heart of Bristol’s cultural centre, with plenty of cafes and bars on site for networking during and after the show, and buyers will even be able to start their trip by taking the ferry from the train station to the venue.

The transport links to Bristol are excellent, with direct flights from the Channel Islands, Ireland and the north of England as well as internationally, and the city has easy access from the South West, Wales and London.

Bristol is also a thriving university city, with a strong culture of surf, skate, bike, arts, fashion and music, all of which provides a great fit with the show, and additional inspiration for visiting retailers.
