    Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 30 July, 2010 : - - South Africa, two-time consecutive World Masters Champions, announced the team that will be working hard to secure a third gold at the Panama ISA World Masters Surfing Championship in the waves of Santa Catalina.

    Surfing South Africa, the sport´s National Governing Body, announced in early July that the defending World Champions, Chris Knutsen (Grand Kahunas), Mark Wright (Kahunas) and Heather Clark (Women Masters) will be defending their country flag in this year’s event.

    “I am definitely ready for the third”, said Chris Knutsen to the ISA. Knutsen is the inspirational over 50 surfer who along with Juan Ashton of Puerto Rico, will compete for the opportunity to win a third Masters World title. Knutsen won the Kahunas division in 2007 and the Grand Kahunas in 2008.

    Alongside with the defending Champions, the following team was announced:

    Masters (over 35): Wayne Monk, Andrew Banks

    Grand Masters (over 40): Andre Malherbe, Robert Moore Boyle

    Kahunas (over 45): David Malherbe, Marc Wright

    Grand Kahunas (over 50): Chris Knutsen

    Women Masters (over 35): Heather Clark

    Coach: Antoni Brodowicz

    Manager: Dave Fish

    Grand Master competitor, Andre Malherbe, won the copper medal in Peru in 2008 and his brother, David, won the same prize in the same division at the Masters held in Puerto Rico in 2007. Andrew Banks, placed in the Masters´ top 10 in Peru. New additions to the team are, Wayne Monk, former South Africa Men´s Champion and Robert Moore.

    The ISA 1978 Open Men World Champion, Antoni Brodowicz, will be the Coach for the third time in a row. He led the team to victory in the two previous editions of the event and is looking forward to maintaining the top spot for the South African team in the world of Masters´ Surfing.

    The Panama ISA World Masters Surfing Championship is made possible due to: Panamanian Tourism Department, Corona, Súper Deportes, surfosmagazine.com and surfeapanama.com.

    About the International Surfing Association (ISA)
    The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the World Governing Authority for Surfing. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running world championships since 1964 and the Junior World Championships since 1980. 

    ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 60 countries on six continents. Its headquarters are located in San Diego, California.     El Campeón Mundial Masters Panama ISA World Masters Surfing Championship 

    Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 30 July, 2010 : - - Sudáfrica, Campeón Mundial Masters por dos veces consecutivas, anunció el equipo que estará trabajando duro en las olas de Santa Catalina para lograr su tercer oro en el Panama ISA World Masters Surfing Championship. 

    Surfing South Africa, federación gobernante del deporte en el país, anunció a comienzos de julio que los campeones defensores, Chris Knutsen (Grand Kahunas), Mark Wright (Kahunas) y Heather Clark (Women Masters) estarán defendiendo los colores del país en el evento de este año.

    “Definitivamente estoy listo para el tercero”, le dijo Chris Knutsen a la ISA. Knutsen es el inspirador surfista mayor de 50 años que junto a Juan Ashton de Puerto Rico, competirán por la oportunidad de ganar un tercer Título Mundial. Knutsen ganó la división Kahunas en 2007 y la Grand Kahunas en 2008.

    Junto a los campeones defensores, e l siguiente equipo fue anunciado: 

    Masters (mayores de 35): Wayne Monk, Andrew Banks 

    Grand Masters (mayores de 40): Andre Malherbe, Robert Moore Boyle

    Kahunas (mayores de 45): David Malherbe, Marc Wright 

    Grand Kahunas (mayores de 50): Chris Knutsen 

    Women Masters (mayores de 35): Heather Clark

    El competidor de la Grand Masters, Andre Malherbe, ganó la medalla de cobre en Perú 2008 y su hermano, David, logró lo mismo en la misma división en el Mundial Masters de Puerto Rico 2007. Andrew Banks, se ubicó entre los diez mejores en Perú. Los nuevos integrantes del equipo son: el ex Campeón Sudafricano de Surf Open, Wayne Monk y Robert Moore. 

    El Campeón Mundial Open de la ISA en 1978, Antoni Brodowicz, será el Entrenador por tercer año consecutivo. Él llevó el equipo a la victoria en las dos ediciones previas del evento y espera mantener a los sudafricanos en el lugar más alto del podio del Mundial Masters.

    El Panama ISA World Masters Surfing Championship es posible gracias a la Autoridad de Turismo de Panamá, Corona, Súper Deportes, surfosmagazine.com y surfeapanama.com.
