Surf guide publisher launches new website
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 14 July, 2010 : - - A new website selling critically-acclaimed surfing guide books has launched this week. Wavefinder has been seeking out the world’s best waves for nearly 10 years. In this time their pocket-sized guide books have helped thousands of surfers plan their trips to many of the world’s best surf spots. The new site, wave-finder.com, has been completely redesigned to include a news section regularly updated with information on surf spots, technique tips from top pro surfers, and the latest news from the sport. Nick Rink, managing director of Wavefinder, said: “Our aim has always been to help surfers of all ages and abilities get maximum enjoyment from their surfing. “In developing the new website our goal has been to make it easy and enjoyable to use. The online shop has a streamlined checkout process to make it easier to buy our guides, while the blog builds on the content from the manuals and offers insights from some of the sport’s best athletes.” Recent posts include Spot of the Week: A Guide to Watergate Bay, and a clip of Hawaiian surfer Flynn Novak talking about his revolutionary aerial manoeuvre, the ‘Flynnstone Flip’. As well as surfing, Wavefinder publish guides and manuals for snowsports and mountain biking, and each sport has its own dedicated area on the new site. The company also publish Surfing: The Manual, a skills and technique guide which helps surfers of all levels improve their surfing.
The book drew praise from top professional surfer Taj Burrow, who said: “You can’t get better advice from better surfers anywhere.” A team of three Cornish companies worked on the project: Barefoot Media consulted on the content, structure and usability, design was by Nine Design, with the build by developers Redfuse Internet.
