Tom Curren 2010 Waterman of the Year

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 16 July, 2010 : - - A 3-time ASP World Champion and all-time icon of the sport- Rip Curl's Tom Curren graciously accepted the honor of 2010 Waterman of the Year this past weekend at the 21st annual SIMA Waterman's Ball.

Alongside honorees Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (Environmentalist of the Year), Al Merrick (Lifetime Achievement Award), and a house packed full of surf industry execs, friends, and family, Curren was recognized for his longtime and continued contribution to the sport of surfing.

Curren, who first became a Rip Curl teamrider at the young age of 15, has represented the brand from the podium as an ASP World Champion to the countless discoveries of uncharted perfection as the lead face of The Search program in the 90's.

Today, Curren continues to be an integral part of the Rip Curl Search program and is enjoying watching his talented kids progress through the ranks of competitive surfing.
